About Me
Hi, I’m Femke de Jong, an illustrator, collage artist, and designer based in Bristol, from the Netherlands.
I graduated BA illustration at the University of the West of England in 2008. Since then, I am living in Bristol, Amsterdam and Thailand with my partner and our red cat, Stan.
I thrive on hard work, reliability, and a sense of fun. My focus is on editorial and advertising illustration, book art, and GIF creation. I enjoy creating, solving problems, and telling stories through my work, which often features a whimsical and curious style.
My digital collage designs, reflect the warmth of vintage design. Inspired by surrealists and silent comedy, I admire artists such as Ernst, Höch, Gilliam, Arcimboldo, Svankmajer, Keaton, Lloyd, Rube Goldberg, and Heath Robinson.
When I’m not immersed in new projects, you can find me riding my Dutch bicycle, reading books, or exploring flea markets for interesting trinkets..
Furthermore, I love getting my hands dirty, working with clay, traveling, and diving wrecks and reefs. As a nature lover, I care deeply about the environment, human rights, and animal welfare. Thus, I frequently explore nature to find inspiration, as there’s always a story waiting somewhere to be discovered..
